Garlic, Salt and Pepper

I did this little watercolor for my daughter, Vicki, several years ago....just had it re-matted and framed for her new kitchen.

Big Bend #1

Recent trip to Big Bend National Park in far West Texas prompts a series of new paintings. This study is the first. 11"x14" on Arches Rough 140 lb paper. Upright on an easel at arm's length with fat squirrel-hair quills.

From the Pumpkin Patch. Watercolor 11"x14"

It is a seasonal thing. Lots of textures and warm colors. A fun painting at arms length, using big fat squirrel-hair quill brushes in a vertical format with the paint running.

Detail for previous- 'Water for the Hornos'

I am constantly working on the theory of 'Indicate it, don't state it.' Simplistic, dancing brush strokes with fingers at the end of the brush.

Water for the Hornos - Watercolor 10"x14"

I started this painting some time ago, but it was on the top sheet of a watercolor block so I had to finish it to get to the next sheet.

This method of baking bread has been used in the Pueblos since the Spanish came to America, bringing wheat with them. They taught the Indians to cultivate the wheat and to grind it to make bread. They then taught them how to make hornos to bake their bread. These girls are bringing the water from a spring for the dough mixture. Can you smell it?

Adobes at Capitan

12" x 18" watercolor on Arches 140lb paper.
I did this today, using a couple of my old photos from around Lincoln, County, NM.
Can you smell the pinon smoke?

Out my back door.

I recently sold my home and moved to a small apartment in Dallas. I was searching for some inspiration...and standing on my deck, snapped an iPhone pic of the driveway across the street on Rosemeade Pkwy. Just for fun.

A small painting.

Some older paintings.

A collector friend had purchased these pieces from me nearly 30 years ago. He found me by Google and sent some pics. I think I was in my 'hereford' period then. The painting of my friend, Bob, was done as a commission piece.

Duck

This is a little 5" x 7" watercolor on Arches paper...fun, loose and juicy!
